Tip Tuesday: Landing Patterns
Heading to a new DZ? Here are a few tools from Flight-1's Justin Price to help you scope it out before you even get there...
Moving on from becoming proficient at the 2way Vertical Formation Skydiving (VFS) dive pool, using that as a stepping stone to increase your skills and awareness as a flyer, will lead you to learning the 4 way VFS dive pool. Begin by first learning the Advanced section of the dive pool. As you become comfortable flying 4way VFS and gaining knowledge of what each team member is doing during each Random Formation and Block Sequence, move on, taking what you already know and using the same set of skills, and increase them to the additional Randoms and Blocks for the Open dive pool.
Note: The Dive Pool was updated in the 2017, with more maneuvers added.
Before entering a 4way VFS competition, become comfortable with the IBA rules of the event and of your particular class.
Use the IBA Draw Generator to create random sequences, practicing as if in a real competition environment.
Last, don't forget to have fun!
