A controlled transition from Belly to Back, over the feet.
Maybe this is debatable but we’re pretty sure that getting line-dumped might be the worst way to get dumped. One thing is for sure, though: nobody wants the pain of an out-of-sequence deployment in their lives.
We recently received some footage from an Apex jumper who experienced a pretty gnarly out-of-sequence deployment on a big wall jump. Check it out: The jumper lost riser tension, but luckily avoided reaching line stretch with a tension knot. (Phew.)
The forces exerted by the re-tensioning of the system, however, whipped the risers with enough force to peel both toggles from the riser Velcro, and came out in some clenchy line twists. This stuff happens—it’s part of our sport—but there are things you can do to coax the fates to your side. Here’s our best advice:
