Catching up with… Patrick Passe
What makes Frenchman Patrick Passe one of the most successful world record organizers ever?
Have you been looking for a destination boogie that offers everything a large DZ has? Or are you sick and tired of the same New Year's Boogie every year and need a refresh on the boogie circuit? Well, Skydive Cuautla's New Year's Boogie in Puerto Escondido just may be the best kept boogie secret… until now!!!
This eleven-day boogie showcased their new facilities which included an outdoor shower, bunkhouses, flushing toilets, a cafe, and a shaded packing area, all beautifully landscaped with palm trees and waterfalls! Soon to come - a swimming pool! All located 1 block from the landing area - the beach!
This year, organizers included:
Fernando Gallegos from Peru
Jose Alejandro 'Negro' Novoa from Mexico
Jess Harper from Canada
Melissa [Nelson] Lowe from the US
And event coach (for wingsuit, freefly, RW and canopy), Ben Lowe.
Every morning (except New Year's Day), the first load went to 17,000 feet at no additional cost to begin the day! Organizers put together epic dives from hybrids, angled jumps, sunset tracking, spaceball jumps, all levels of freefly, RW, tube jumps, raft jumps and so much more throughout the event!
Ridiculous fun was had everyday, but notably, event coach, Ben Lowe took event organizer, Monika Peligro Davalos on a tandem. The catch was, he was to wear only a speedo swimming suit and they both wear 'la luchador' masks!
Event organizer, Monika Peligro Davalos choreographed group dinners for all the registrants that served meals from delicious seafood, to baby back ribs to italian lasagna. Every year she also organizes a group to boat out to a luminescent lagoon for swimming, food, drinks and a ton of fun!
On New Year's Eve the DZ hosted their annual, infamous 'white party' where every shows up wearing white. A lantern-launching party on the beach started the party, followed by a beautiful banquet and a DJ who spun all types of music from old American pop music to fun salsa dancing.
Puerto Escondido is a remote little paradise in Mexico that defies its counterparts as it caters to the likes of back-packers, fishermen, surfers, tourists, and for the past 20 years, skydivers. Puerto Escondido feels like Mexico with its humble architecture, hospitality, and food, and makes the perfect location with its huge, white sandy beach landing areas for the perfect boogie!
Skydive Cuautla's main school and dropzone is located only one hour from Mexico City and hosts 2 annual boogies a year in Puerto Escondido.
