The 17-year-old Singapore flyer set a new FAI Solo Speed world record of 19.411 seconds at the Asian Open Indoor Championships

Nineteen seconds has arrived in Solo Speed.

Kai Minejima-Lee completed a competition round in 19.411 seconds at the 2nd FAI Asian

Indoor Skydiving Championship in Bogor, Indonesia, becoming the first flyer to break the 20-second barrier in competition.

The performance has now been confirmed by the FAI as a world record. It replaces Adrien Gallot’s previous record of 20.144, set at the FAI Indoor Skydiving World Cup in Lille in April 2026. Kai took more than seven-tenths of a second off the previous mark, a substantial move in a discipline where races can be decided by fractions of a second.

World Record, Silver Medal

Kai’s 19.411 was the fastest round of the championship, but Solo Speed medals are decided through the head-to-head tournament.

He reached an all-Singapore final against Jordan Lee, who was competing in Solo Speed for the first time. Jordan won both races to take the Asian title, with Kai finishing second. The result gave Kai an unusual combination: a silver medal and the fastest official competition time in the history of the discipline.

Two Asian Titles

The Solo Speed record was one part of a strong championship for Kai. He retained his Solo Freestyle Open title, finishing ahead of fellow Singapore flyer Kyra Poh. He also joined Kyra Poh, Vera Poh and Choo Yi Xuan to win the first 4-Way Dynamic event contested at an Asian Championship.

Kai left Bogor with two gold medals, one silver and a world record. Singapore finished the championship with 11 medals in total: five gold, four silver and two bronze. The team won both gold and silver in Solo Freestyle Open, Solo Speed Open and 2-Way Dynamic.

A New Solo Speed Benchmark

Kai’s 19.411 is more than a championship result. It establishes a new benchmark for a discipline that continues to develop quickly.

Gallot’s 20.144 had been set less than six months earlier. Kai’s record moved the time forward by 0.733 seconds and took Solo Speed into the 19-second range for the first time. The Asian title went to Jordan Lee. The world record belongs to Kai Minejima-Lee.

For everyone now chasing the Solo Speed lines, 19.411 is the time to beat.
