\"Australian<\/p>\n

In February 2013, the IPC created a new category of official World Records, that of Sequential Large Formations. Previously only single point records had been recognised by the IPC (through our international air sports organisation, the FAI). The new category defines ‘Large’ sequential as a quarter of the World Record size for that category. So, for example, as the World Record in FS is currently 400, then a minimum size of 100 is needed to qualify for a World Large Sequential Record. The aim appears to be to cover multiple disciplines in one sweep.<\/p>\n

The rule has various (rather contorted) criteria, regarding how many people must drop grips, and how big a subgroup can be. BJ Worth’s World Team attempted a 2-point 222-way in Eloy, April 2013. The group came very close but did not set a sequential record. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Official FAI Sequential Record<\/h1>\n

<\/p>\n

In August 2013, a Russian group succeeded in being the first to achieve a record under the new rules. There are currently at least three events planned in the next six months that will attempt to break this record. <\/p>\n

Euro Challenge<\/h1>\n

<\/p>\n

Attempts at both a European Large Formation Sequential Record and World Record will take place during September 18-22 at Skydive Empuriabrava, Spain. The Dive Director is Patrick Passe, with a group of well known organisers including Martial Ferr\u00e9, Victor Kravtsov, Milko Hodgkinson and Alia Veselova. They aim for a multiple point 100-way, from two Twin Otters, 1 Beech, 2 Caravans and a Dornier. Off-site landing zones are being prepared in addition to the usual airfield DZ. This FS record will take place alongside a Euro Freefly Record attempt at Empuriabrava, organised by Babylon.<\/p>\n

\"222-way<\/p>\n

Square One World Sequential Series<\/h1>\n

<\/p>\n

The P3 group of captains led by Dan BC, Kate Cooper-Jensen and Tony Domenico will hold a World Record event in Eloy, November 30 through to 6 December 2013. The ultimate aim is a 200-way World Record Sequential but the group aims to set records on the build-up dives too, as any jumps from 100-ways and larger are potential World Record qualifiers. Jumps will be from all altitudes starting with 13,500 feet with potential to go as high as 18,000 feet (with oxygen), from a fleet or aircraft that will include two Skyvans and several Twin Otters.<\/p>\n

Fly It Backwards<\/h1>\n

<\/p>\n

BJ Worth’s World Team (WT)will meet at Eloy in spring 2014 with the aim of setting a 222-way sequential World Record. A similar WT group gather at Eloy spring 2013 and came very close to setting the first Large Formation Sequential Record \u2013 but not close enough. At that time the group aimed to build a 222-way formation and fly forward to a second 222-way formation. In the end the closest they came to a record was to build the (intended) second formation first, and fly backwards to the (original) first point. This time around WT aims to fly it backwards from the off. <\/p>\n
