Every year in November, BJ Worth organizes ‘Kaleidoscope’ 100-ish-ways in Florida, usually at Skydive Deland. Normally the focus is on imaginative shapes and sequences but this year it is large sequential, with the aim of setting new World Records.

FAI Sequential Record History

At the beginning of 2013, the IPC made a brand new category of World Record Sequential, never previously been recognised by the FAI. An official sequential world record can be set in any discipline or category if the size performing the multiple point skydive is more than a quarter of the current world record. The first Sequential World Record was set in August in Russia, with a 2-point 101-way. This was swiftly followed by a 2-point 106-way set in Spain at the Skydive Empuriabrava Challenge, organised by Patrick Passe. Now BJ Worth’s Kaleidoscope group has set a 2-point 110-way.

Thursday 21 November

The event did not get off to a promising start. The theme for the first day was RAIN. We dirt dived the formation and the day was called early.

Friday 22

We were still on the ground most of the day because of rain and clouds but the forecast looked to improve. It cleared for a window at the end of the day, and last night on our first 110 way we built the first point.

Saturday 23 NOV Update.

Clear skies all day. We just came down from jump #5 and will make one more. Its been a frustrating day. Things looked good after last night’s early success. Today the first three dives busted high and we didn’t even transition. Dives 4 and 5 came close, but there are still individuals going low… last jump of the day…

WE GOT IT!!!

The sixth 110-way of the day, and, after 2 throwaway dives in the morning we just got better and crept closer… We did two points and held it forever. Check the video! Lots of shouting on the ground!! Hope the weather holds for tomorrow. This team has gelled and we’re ready to go for more…

More Records on the Cards?

Best of all the forecast is blue skies all tomorrow (Sunday 24 Nov).
