Dear Roy<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I am in a 4-way team, we are in AAA and our current average is 14. We have someone on our team who does not prepare like everyone else does for our training sessions, whether tunnel or jumping. Our coach circulates the jumps in advance and we are supposed to visualize them, but when we start walking the jumps it\u2019s obvious she has not done her homework.<\/em> <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Irritatingly, she has very good flying skills so in a way, it\u2019s not so important, as performance-wise she is possibly the best on the team. But it bugs me that the other 3 of us seem to take the team more seriously than she does. Then I get irritated with her not knowing the dive in the walk-through, and the next thing, I\u2019m spacing because I\u2019ve distracted myself, and now she\u2019s walking it perfectly\u2026 which I find even more infuriating! Grrrrrr!<\/em><\/p>\n

Everyone who thinks that he or she is the best on the team should always lead by example \n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

<\/p>\n

I can imagine your frustration; it sounds like a common problem \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

My first question to you would be if you already spoke with her about it? If not, this is what I would suggest in the first place. Tell her what bothers you and see what she has to say about it and hopefully the problem can be solved right away. Of course, your coach is in the best position to deal with it; in the end this is part of his job.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

When your coach sends you the jumps in advance, all of you should do your own homework. There is no excuse why one person shouldn\u2019t be doing it. Being the best flyer in the team is for sure not an excuse to skip this task. Everyone who thinks that he or she is the best on the team should always lead by example. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

There are many more skills required in a team than just being a good flyer; being a team player is far more important than any other. With not doing your homework and not putting the same effort in the simplest things like preparing your jumps, you will not contribute enough to the team work ethic. We all make mistakes and this is very normal, nobody will blame you for it when you give your best. But being lazy is something that can cost a lot of frustration and problems in the long run and will never lead to something positive.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Have a meeting or \u2018Rock Session\u2019 and clear things out. The solution is super simple and it doesn\u2019t take a lot of effort from somebody that really wants to be in a team. <\/p>\n
