Having attended the 2012 Christmas Boogie I knew I wanted to return for Xmas 2013. What I didn\u2019t realise when I booked flights and hotel was how much bigger and better 2013 was planned to be!!!<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Magnificent Beasts<\/h1>\n

<\/p>\n

Skydive Spain<\/a> near Seville is a sister dropzone to Skydive Hibaldstow<\/a> in the north of England. They both benefit from the Wingglider<\/a> relationship, another family company that owns and operates a number of aircraft. What this means to a jumper is that we get to fly in the awesome G92 and to exit from 15,000 feet. This year saw us using 3 of these magnificent beasts, meaning that we could manifest a 12-way and be on a call within minutes. On three of the busiest days there were over 60 lifts!!<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Slick Operation<\/h1>\n

<\/p>\n

We arrived just after lunch and had kit and docs sorted within 15 minutes, again showing how slick the operation is. Over the next 3 days the group grew and grew, seeing people arrive from just about every European country and even from as far away as the USA. We all know that a big group of jumpers is like a herd of cats, but the staff here are always willing to help and the Load Organisers and manifest are especially great at sorting stuff out for you.<\/p>\n

World Champion organisers<\/h1>\n

<\/p>\n

As a committed flat flyer that is particularly passionate about 4-way it was great to have 2 world champion load organisers in Herman Landsman and Julia Foxwell. Quite simply, this pair did an awesome job of turning around 30 of us into better flyers but, most importantly, making it fun at the same time. Alongside FS there were Wingsuit, FF, Crew and tracking load organisers \u2013 there really was something for everyone. <\/p>\n


<\/p>\n

The other bonus was that if the group was big enough, Skydive Spain<\/a> provided free outside camera \u2013 an awesome addition allowing us to debrief effectively and to improve much more quickly (and of course to get the out-takes for the bar tape). The debrief area has 3 booths, each with its own screen and card reader\/camera cables making the debrief process efficient and easy.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Improving while having Fun<\/h1>\n

<\/p>\n

The group I joined were mainly Dutch and English and included a pretty wide range of abilities; we started as a disparate group of 12 and within 2 days were turning blocks. Our load organiser was Julia Foxwell (British 4 way Champion and World Champion). She started by determining our individual skills and developed jumps that would stretch and progress us \u2013 all set up to ensure we benefitted in improving ability whilst having fun. At the beginning, the jumps would typically be 1 or 2 points with all of the jumpers infacing; as our communication and levels improved we were able to increase both the complexity of the jumps and the number of points. Towards the end they became 5 or 6 point jumps, including outfacing slots and turning blocks. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

“I’m still buzzing after such an amazing experience at the Skydive Spain<\/a> Christmas Boogie. In how many sports can you get to participate with world class champions that are so talented, passionate and eager to pass on their valuable skills? I learnt so much in the sky and under canopy, thanks to the load organisers. I was able to get 43 jumps in 6 days due to the quick cycles and well handled manifest \u2013 if you’ve seen my packing, that’s good going! The staff were excellent. Always sweeping, cleaning, helpful and fun keeping the operation running. What an opportunity to meet and fly with various skydivers from across the globe in such a great atmosphere.
