This allows your upper back to support your body on the wind so you can move your arms freely. It prevents falling on your back as well as keeping any leg deflection minimal    <\/li>\n<li>Arms 90\u00b0 to torso, hands aligned with shoulders, elbows slightly bent    <\/li>\n<li>Thighs 90\u00b0 angle to torso and a little wider than shoulder width apart    <\/li>\n<li>Lower legs 90\u00b0 to thighs, heels right below the knees   <\/li>\n<li>Flex your feet pressing your heels down    <\/li>\n<li>In the beginning look straight forward to help with the correct posture    <\/li>\n<li>Relaxed arms, don\u2019t over-exert or press down too far. Feel the air and fly it    <\/li>\n<li>Check your heels are in line with your knees and your upper legs keep equal height, this prevents unintentional turns  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Forward movement\" src=\"https:\/\/www.skydivemag.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/\/f2ea4e54-217a-485c-aa4d-1bb73a9dd522.jpeg\"><\/p>\n<h1>FORWARD<\/h1>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Small moves for short distances<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Push your back against the wind    <\/li>\n<li>Bend elbows (bring back as far as possible) and push your hands down, leaving the forearm at around a 45\u00ba angle with the wind   <\/li>\n<li>Hips are kept still   <\/li>\n<li>Press your heels down and forward, bringing your knees a little lower than the hips  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Aggressive moves for long distances<\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Push your back against the wind   <\/li>\n<li>Hips forward   <\/li>\n<li>Arms can be either beside your torso or above your head but always at approximately 45\u00ba angles with the wind  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Backward movement \" src=\"https:\/\/www.skydivemag.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/\/a893efa7-e4b5-4fb4-b0cc-550cba7c7411.jpeg\"><\/p>\n<h1>BACKWARD<\/h1>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Small moves for short distances<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Bend legs bringing your heels backwards   <\/li>\n<li>Push your chest against the wind   <\/li>\n<li>Rotate your shoulders so your hands are above the elbows and forearms approximately 45\u00ba angles with the wind  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Aggressive moves for long distances<\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Hips backward <\/li>\n<li>Push your heels back    <\/li>\n<li>Chest forward slightly de-arched    <\/li>\n<li>Arms in front of your head    <\/li>\n<li>Hands in front of the shoulders and above the elbows  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h1>TURNS<\/h1>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The most efficient, quickest turns are done with the whole body. With the arms, use the same technique to turn as flying the mantis position on your belly, but your arms will be open. With the legs, the same technique is used as when backflying.
