This sport is constantly changing. The way people fly their bodies has become much more aggressive and dynamic. The manufacturers have two choices: either keep up with it, or start to lose business. But in general the gear is evolving. The gear has got to keep up to speed, and for the most part it has been.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Amy, thanks to decades honing her craft at the very pointiest end of the sport, sits in the very enviable, very well-earned position of having the absolute pick of the litter when it comes to that \u201cevolved\u201d gear. There are so many things that I honestly love about this rig,\u201d Amy waxes ecstatic. \u201cThe yolk is designed with this cross-section in the back, and it keeps the rig on my shoulders really nicely. &nbsp;It allows me to have a breathing system. The articulated harness makes the rig fit me really well, especially for a curvy person like myself. It really does the trick.\u201d&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe Curv\u2019s design also\nstays tight on my shoulders when I\u2019m at a steep belly angle,\u201d she adds. \u201cNone\nof that \u2018go off on one shoulder\u2019 stuff. I\u2019ve never found that in another rig,\nand it has always been a problem for me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAlso, my husband really loves packing [the reserve],\u201d she laughs. \u201cHe is, like, totally stoked. The fitter pins it in places and makes\nnotes. It is a bit different, but it gets the fit so precise, and you can see\nright away if you need to adjust it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AAD: CYPRES<strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI like how much they bring to the table,\u201d Amy says. \u201cThey have been around for a really long time. They have saved a lot of people. The printing for the Red Bull canopies\ncame out beautiful. That said, carting gear around the globe remains a battle in which the\nproper equipment determines the outcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c[Ogio bags] are\nlightweight and they are sturdy,\u201d Amy says. \u201cI put one rig in each bag.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The \u201cto check or not to\ncheck\u201d debate still rages hotly at dropzone bars around the world; for her\npart, Amy self-identifies as a checker. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI check my rigs all the\ntime,\u201d she says. \u201cI used to carry them on&#8211;when I was paying for checked bags,\nor when I was traveling for competitions&#8211;but now I check everything.\n&nbsp;Sometimes I have to get thrifty if I\u2019m traveling a weird airline that\ncharges for bags, or If I\u2019m going somewhere that feels a bit questionable on\nthe arrival side.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not that it always goes perfectly&#8230;  \u201cDelta lost my bag once, in Croatia,\u201d she moans. \u201c They lost my Curv! They didn\u2019t even know where the gear was for days. In the meantime, I had to jump used gear, which was unbelievably uncomfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThen when I get my gear\nback at the end of the week,\u201d she continues, wincing, \u201cIt was soaking wet. It\nturns out that it had been left out in the rain the whole time. Everything was\nable to be salvaged on the rig except for one thing: the bridle of the reserve,\nbecause that\u2019s made of cotton, so it got moldy. Brand-new gear isn\u2019t a\ngreat choice yet, anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhen you\u2019re a new\nskydiver,\u201d she says, \u201cit\u2019s a good idea to buy used equipment so you can see why\npeople love the gear they love, and what fits <em>your<\/em> unique body. You\nwon\u2019t know what your flying style is&#8211;and you don\u2019t know how gear fits\nyou&#8211;until you have worn a couple of things that don\u2019t quite work.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAnd you go grow out of\nit quickly,\u201d she grins. \u201cNo one is going to buy a brand new car for their first\ncar unless you are totally rich. There\u2019s a good used market for beginners! Just\nhop on that train for a while and figure out what you like.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don\u2019t worry! Work hard and. before you know it, you\u2019ll be taking that \u201cbeginner train\u201d straight up badass mountain&#8211;and athletes like Amy will be waiting up there to mentor you. <\/p>\n\n\n<div
