We choose how we want to fly based on our perception of the fun versus risk factor. &nbsp;Dave Hebert was a member of a canopy piloting team based at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.skydiveperris.com\">Skydive Perris<\/a>. I was walking over to dirtdive a 16-way CReW [Canopy Formation] jump as Dave was getting ready to go swoop.&nbsp; I reminded him (as I often do) \u201cBe careful with that swooping stuff.\u201d He responded, \u201cShut the hell up, you\u2019re going to do CReW!\u201d&nbsp; I think the fun factor of doing CReW with 15 of my friends is way worth the risk. But flying my canopy at high speeds close to the ground isn\u2019t. Dave wouldn\u2019t even consider doing CReW, that\u2019s crazy.&nbsp; But diving his canopy at the dirt is a blast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" training for some proximity terrain flying.&nbsp; I asked him if he was going to join the Wingsuit World Record jumps [going on at the time] and he said \u201cNo way!&nbsp; That\u2019s far too dangerous.\u201d&nbsp; Flying less than a foot from the earth or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=TWfph3iNC-k\">the sides of a crack <\/a>is okay but flying in the wide open sky with lots ratio<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All of the skydiving disciplines have inherent risks.&nbsp; But it has been proven again and again that all of them can be done safely when approached with the proper training, experience, equipment and common sense.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Be wise<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>No matter how you choose to play, find an expert to advise you<\/li><li>Use the right equipment, and maintain it<\/li><li>Don\u2019t overestimate your abilities<\/li><li>Pick the games that look like the most fun to you<\/li><li>Understand the risks involved and how to minimize them<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the fun outweighs the risk, have at it.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And don\u2019t screw it up.&nbsp; It ruins your friends&#8217; day when you hurt yourself.&nbsp; Takes all the fun out of it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure
