Skydiving is an amazing sport<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It builds character, confidence, awareness and the ability to focus. But more than anything it is the epitome of self-reliance. Once you decide to leave an airplane you, and only you, can get yourself to the ground safely. No one can do it for you. But don\u2019t confuse self-reliance with an \u201ceveryone for themselves\u201d attitude. Skydiving is a community and skydivers, no matter who they are or where they come from are our family. We want to build a safe community, one where we all take responsibility for ourselves and each other. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Safety needs to be a part of the drop zone culture not out of a police action but out of love for each other. We often don\u2019t realize how much we love someone until we lose them. That\u2019s what we\u2019re trying to avoid. Attention to safety should be a part of everyday and every jump at the DZ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

USPA<\/a> Safety Day is the one day a year when we all pause and together focus on all aspects of safety. It is the day to collectively be sure we understand the safety rules, procedures, how they work and why they work. It is the day to remind ourselves what we need to do to land safely ourselves and to create the safest environment possible for all of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I first started skydiving I often heard the phrase \u201cany skydive you walk in from is a good skydive\u201d. It is the absolute truth. When we grow up to be old skydivers and we\u2019re looking back on the incredible times we had we\u2019ll remember nothing but love and laughter from any jumps we and all our friends walked in from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please attend your local DZ Safety Day to be sure those are the only memories we create!<\/h4>\n\n\n\n
