FAI has confirmed that canopy piloting will return to The World Games when the event takes place in Karlsruhe from 19\u201329 July 2029.Around 4,000 athletes from more than 100 countries are expected to compete across 36 sports and 62 disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Canopy piloting is one of the easier disciplines in our sport for spectators. Courses over water and events built around speed, distance, accuracy and freestyle make it one of the easier skydiving disciplines to follow from the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It\u2019s also not new to The World Games. Canopy piloting has featured at previous editions, including Birmingham in 2022, and its return puts competitive swooping back in front of an international audience well beyond skydiving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
FAI President Greg Principato said The World Games gives air sports an important opportunity to showcase its athletes globally, adding that canopy piloting\u2019s return \u201cbuilds on its legacy within the event.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Exactly what the 2029 competition will look like, and who will qualify, is still to come. FAI says qualification criteria and the competition format will be announced at a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
