Prague D4W Workshop

Visit Us

The Knights of Prague is the next upcoming Dynamic 4 way (D4W) competition in the beginning of December (10-13). In preparation Skydive Arena, the wind tunnel hosting the competition, donated 12 hours towards a workshop headed up by Håvard Flaat dedicated to improving the competition.

Flyers from different teams try out the new moves

Everyone Working Together

D4W is still so young that there is still a lot of room for improvement. Members from previous teams who competed at both the Voss Valhalla and Battle of Bottrop have travelled out to work through the dive pool, the judging methods, scoring system and the competition set up. Represented are members of Voss Ventus, the Joy Riders, The Renegades, Bulaka, Southernfly, Fly Station, Berserk, Prague Superfly and Skydive Arena all working together to make this new discipline as AWESOME as it can be. It’s very exciting to see everyone working together, all paying their own way out here and some of us not even flying, just meeting and discussing how we can improve every element and then creating new videos for the website, a new rule book and updating the website so other teams can get the information.

it’s grown into a real team working towards one goal – making a competition as AWESOME as we know it can be!!

Simplify

One of the biggest goals was to simplify and improve access to more teams. So some of the hardest moves have been replaced and we are currently trialling and testing a new stream lined set of compulsories. Running the dive pool in different combinations and finding problems and fixing issues. It’s very satisfying and after working out improved ways to keep it running smooth, it gives a real feeling of
accomplishment and achievement.

Making the Competition Awesome

We are still a long way behind the amount of work Håvard and Alex Aimard have put in, these 2 did most of the work up to this point. But now it’s grown into a real team working towards one goal; making a competition as AWESOME as we know it can be!!!

Comment

From Dynamic 4-way, the organisation run ‘by the athletes, for the athletes’:

The workshop was extremely productive. Everyone can look forward to a new, improved dive pool, new tournament set-up and a new way of judging moving away from the traditional way of giving points, and rather using pure battle. The skill level required to complete the dive pool regular and switch is now significantly lower, so if you are looking for a goal or a way to improve your skill, sign up, start training, and see you in December!’
