In Canopy Piloting, the final round of distance was won by Nick Batsch which, combined with his earlier world record, put him firmly in first place in the Distance Event. Billy Sharman of the UAE had a blistering last run, the third fastest, which put him in second place in Distance. This sent the crowd wild – with more than a little encouragement from the tirelessly enthusiastic commentator Regan, who has become more accomplished and professional every year

Julien Guiho also put up a great score for bronze in Distance, beating Jay Moledzki, who had the best score in the first round, by a whisker, at 264.441 points to 264.017. The Overall CP title is decided by combining the results for the 3 CP events of speed, zone accuracy and distance. Curt Bartholomew for USA was a very comfortable winner, then Julien Guiho of France, with Jay in third place, edging Cornelia into fourth in a most ungentlemanly fashion. Cornelia still has a fabulous meet, outscoring all her fellow UAE pilots, who were all still in the top 25%

Hayabusa put up a sensational last round scoring 30 points. They ended with a 25.1 average, despite an 18 in round 9 that they weren’t too happy with. Behind them in silver were the fast and furious Russians with a 22.3 average, and Rhythm in third for USA with a 20.9 average. The next battle for Hayabusa will be the Windoor tunnel meet in January, which will see a rematch against Airspeed, following the epic battle of last year in Dubai. In fourth place with a personal best average of 19.8, were the Qatar team, coached by ex-Hayabusa member Luc Verstrepen.
Winning the female category, with an exactly equal score to Rythm were France, followed by Polaris for Norway, and then UAE in third with a 14.4 average, hugely improved from last year, nice one ladies! That wraps up the results of the competition, now everyone has a day off before the medal ceremony on Monday.
