Openings
The openings of the VK are a real blessing. You get a fast, probably a little “shaky” snivel, and then the canopy always inflates nicely starting from the center cells and outwards, resulting in more consistent on-heading openings. Unlike the Velocity where the outer cells inflate first and start to battle each other making the canopy dance from side to side.
Confidence
The canopy is very sensitive to harness input and therefore, is easy to deteriorate the quality of the opening if you are not well balanced, or try to do to much in your harness during opening, making it no so difficult to loose the heading. I had line twists 3 or 4 times and they where always very easy to kick out, while losing a lot less altitude than if they had happened on a Velocity. The emperor (Rickster) told me I was making the stows to big and line twists where gone after I started making them pretty small. I started pulling at very slow speeds to test things, now I’m pulling with complete confidence at higher speeds, while tracking, etc. and the openings are always good. It also seems like the fastest I go the more consistent the opening.
