Coronavirus pandemic prevents the Mondial for this year..

The 2020 Skydiving World Championships due to take place in Tanay, Russia, this August has been rescheduled to the following year, 7 – 21 August 2021. This is due to the COVID pandemic.
The International Skydiving Committee Bureau and the Federation of Sport Parachuting in Russia have been discussing the coronavirus problem related to the World Meet for some weeks. The lack of possibility for teams to train, the problems with international travel – and therefore visas – and the potential infection possibilities of this large sporting event are all very good reasons for postponement.
It may be that other events in 2021 and 2022 have to be rescheduled in turn, this will be communicated later. The most important thing was to release the information about the postponement so that athletes and associations are informed and can adjust their plans.
Bizarrely, the Mondial 2021 will still be known as ‘Mondial 2020’ for reasons of branding. Hmmm. Not confusing at all.
We congratulate the organisers on their decision and we wish the athletes luck in their new training plan.
