Emplaning in the desert!

Maybe you heard about the skydiving trip in Jordan that we did this year in early March  2013? This first edition was organized with a small contingent to evaluate the trip as a test for a further bigger event. It passed with flying colours! The place where we have been jumping is just … great! This skydiving trip gathers all what makes a skydiving trip look great; conviviality, comfort, safety and a strange sensation to skydive out of the normal world!

The few people who did come with me at the first edition didn’t regret their trip at all! On every opening of the Cessna Grand caravan’s door we were all fascinated by the awesome multi-chromatic landscape displayed by the desert of Wadirum stretching below our feet. It looks like nothing has changed from the past, and we might expect to see Lawrence of Arabia riding with his troops through the DZ!

Well! The place, logistics and accomodations are so great that i have decided to turn this skydiving trip into a major skydiving event every year from now, in which I want to add 3 major virtues of the skydiving life: fun, performance, conviviality. To be added over these: a complete change of scene to your eyes! Be prepared to be disoriented!

IMAGINE

Imagine skydiving far away from all traces of civilisations, in such an awesome scenic place where the consumer society has no rights anymore, forgotten, eradicated! There is nothing around you but a plane (Cessna Grand Caravan) waiting for you and teammates in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the tabletop mountains and the desert of Wadirum stretching all around in all its panoramic multicoloured magnificence.

Temporary drop zone headquarters

Nearby the landing area, a comfortable camp is your head quarters for the day where a great local cook is preparing a super lunch for you. After a nice sunset load you pack your stuff and climb into the van that brings you back to the hotel in Aqaba near the Red Sea. You meet your teammates at night to share a shisha or a beer on the roof of the hotel and you start reliving the great memories that you have in your mind after such a great skydiving day. What I’m describing is pure true recall of what we have did this year during the first edition of our Skydive Jordan camp 2013. And what I propose is to bring you back with me again for an even better event…

Four Seasons Skydive

What will be new during the second edition is the opportunity to jump over Aqaba for one day (every Friday)! So we will be flying over the Red Sea and you will be able to see 4 countries at the same time in free fall; Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel and Egypt! Not common is it?!

Schedule

Our global camp in Jordan will last from 17 February till 23 March 2014. The first 2 weeks of the camp will take place in the Wadirum desert (and Aqaba) (17 Feb – 2 March). The rest of the camp will be organized at the Dead sea (3-23 March).

Jumping with Martial Ferré

I will coach (and play with!) a 12-way sequential team for very experienced jumpers during the first week of the camp (17-23 Feb 2014). Most of these slots are already gone, so hurry if you would like one!

I will stay the next week to organize jumps also for lower experienced jumpers (6-way/8 way) during 23 Feb to 2 March 2014.

Contact me at martial.ferre-at-gmail.com if you want to join one of my teams.

Is it Mars? Venus? No, it’s Earth Jim but not as we know it. Looking like the group is free falling over a strange alien planet, this video will give you an idea what to expect at Jordan
