The scientists at Squirrel have been busy over winter, coming up with two inventions to take Squirrel’s product range beyond wingsuits. A tracking suit and a base rig have been developed, presumably with the attention to detail, innovation and careful thought we’ve come to see as trademarks of Squirrel.
Sumo Tracking Suit
For the Sumo, the guys at Squirrel say that they searched to find the ideal balance between volume and stability, with an emphasis on solid internal pressure and quick inflation.
Onesie in a 2-piece
The Sumo has performance that is comparable to one-piece tracking suits, with the comfort and ease of use that is inherent in a simpler 2-piece system.
No-Wobble system
The No-Wobble system secures the pants to your knee area, helping to prevent excess movement in the pants while tracking. This unique feature gives a compact and precise feel in the track, and is very simple to use. It is also optional – the pants can be flown with or without the Velcro fastened.
Intuitive Control
Squirrel claims that the overall suit volume is balanced thanks to a slight taper from waist to ankle for ease of handling. The SUMO provides quick starts and excellent forward speed, with simple and intuitive control.
Please remember that, as with all BASE jumping equipment, it is extremely important to skydive the SUMO extensively before attempting to use it for BASE jumping.

Stronglite Base Rig
Another new innovation from our furry friends is their Stronglite base rig, nearing launch. Squirrel will be accepting orders for the StrongLite in March and anticipate a fast delivery time.
Squirrel’s mission for the StrongLite was to create the ideal wingsuit BASE container for big mountain flying. Their brush-headed boffins wanted it to be light, durable, comfortable, and with a clean BOC pull. The StrongLite is noticeably lighter than other containers and its long design is claimed to be an easier pull angle.
Their entertaining video tells the full story.
