I’m sure everyone in the world understands this problem – I don’t have enough money to train 4-way again this year. My contract came to an end so I had to resign from my team, even though we were just reaching a great point of progression, flying well together and making a 13+ average in AAA. I really want to do 4-way again when my finances allow. So for 2014 I’d like to keep my skills and 4-way knowledge current. How can I do this without spending (much) money? I have 2,500 jumps but no real ratings (I have a coach rating but not AFF instructor or tandem or rigging). I don’t mind packing for jumps but that doesn’t get me into freefall.
Any suggestions gratefully received!

The more experience you have, and the more you have trained yourself how to visualize, the more effective it will be
Honestly I think that keeping your skills current is the biggest challenge. Without money we cannot jump or fly in the tunnel, so what else can we do? Probably the best alternative is to visualize and keep practicing this as much as you can. Keep watching lots of (good) videos and analyze every move. The more experience you have, and the more you have trained yourself how to visualize, the more effective it will be. Visualization is a very powerful tool, if you use it in the proper way.
To keep your 4-way knowledge, or even expand it, should be no problem. Here it is just a matter of gathering as much information as possible. Watch all the latest movies and competition rounds, read all the books, surf on the internet, check out what teams are doing during their training, listen to the briefing and debriefings, get intel from your coach…
How to earn money? Besides the obvious jobs like packing parachutes, working at the dropzone, coaching or teaching; I guess you are in a better position to find solutions for it than me. I do believe that if someone really wants to get things done, he will find ways to do it and he is willing to make sacrifices to achieve a certain goal.
Once you earn money, be smart with how to spend it. Find out in which way you can use it best. Get the maximum efficiency out of the minimum investment.
