#What’s going on with Hayabusa now Roy has left?
The Hayabusa project will continue for sure. We even started calling it, Hayabusa 5.0 because of its fifth member change. Dave, Dennis, Danny and I are highly motivated and determined to win another world championship, now with Jeroen ‘Bob’ Nollet on our side. Jeroen will be taking over the Tail slot.
##Isn’t that a very big ask for Jeroen?
With the help of our coach, Gary Smith, and the experience that we have gained over the years, we strongly believe that we can get Jeroen very quickly up to team speed. We have proven this in the past, as the team has already underwent some personnel changes. For sure it will not be an easy task for Jeroen and he will feel a lot of pressure from inside and outside the team. However, we know after many years that hard work pays off and Jeroen has the correct mental approach and the physical ability to do so.
##Have you jumped with Jeroen in competition?
In 2012 the 4 of us already did a competition with Jeroen, when Roy got sick on the ESL. We were up against Thunder, a very highly trained and talented amateur team, so t was a good opportunity for us to put Jeroen up for the test. It got into a tight race where we had a jump-off and won against Thunder! We were very proud of his performance and were amazed to see that he could score a 21.3 average on an outdoor competition with very limited training with the team.
##How is it going so far?
We already started our training and manage to do around 70 jumps with Jeroen and about 30min of tunnel. Everything is looking very promising as Jeroen is progressing very fast. The first training camp gave him the chance to see all exits and understanding the dynamics of our blocks through the skydive. We also did some ‘fun jumps’, as it’s important for the team spirit and to relax and laugh 🙂
Now we are back in Belgium, and we are hitting the tunnel hard to prep ourselves for the DIPC.
