An App has just been released where you don a wingsuit and ‘proximity fly’ down various courses. ‘Wingsuit Infinity Flyer’ is an App for iPhones and iPads, developed by Vaghinak Srapyan, released on 3 November 2013.
The App teaches a little about wing suit flying; their description is actually fairly accurate, as it is lifted straight out of Wikipedia.
Wingsuit flying or wingsuiting is the sport of flying the human body through the air using a special jumpsuit, called a wingsuit, which adds surface area to the human body to enable a significant increase in lift. Modern wingsuits, first developed in the late 1990s, create the surface area with fabric between the legs and under the arms.
A wingsuit flight normally ends with a parachute opening. So a wingsuit can safely be flown from any point that provides sufficient altitude for flight and parachute deployment (normally a skydiving drop aircraft or BASE jump exit point).
The wingsuit flyer wears parachute equipment designed for skydiving or BASE jumping. The parachute flight is normal but for the extra step of the canopy pilot unzipping their arm wings to allow full arm mobility necessary for safe canopy flight.
In the game, you fly your ‘wingsuiter’ out of a virtual helicopter and down various courses, mimicking famous stunts that have been done by real superheroes (wingsuit pilots), like breaking a paper banner, releasing balloons, zooming by trees, and flying through, round and under various obstacles.
The App requires iOS 5.0 or later, is compatible with iPhone, iPad & iPod touch, and is optimised for the iPhone 5.
We would love a reader to review this App for us, especially a real wingsuit pilot! Wingsuit Infinity Flyer has been released so recently it does not yet have a customer rating.
