The winner of the PDFT gear raffle will receive ALL THE GEAR a skydiver needs, from the leading manufacturers! Every ticket sold supports the PD Factory team, who give so much to our sport.
I am confident I am the only current member on the PD Factory Team who has purchased multiple tickets in the past…
A decade or so ago, I had to spend what little money I had very wisely. Each tank of gas driving to and from the dropzone was a major hit. Waking up damp in a tent on the dropzone was a normal occurrence. I enjoyed hearing the first load go up as I brushed my teeth in the parking lot.
My diet changed to accommodate more jumps. My social circle changed to accommodate more jumps. My grades in school radically plummeted because I was doing more jumps. My parents were worried about me and my pursuit of more jumps. I was infatuated with skydiving. It was the first thing I could really make bad judgments for and still remarkably be able to rationalize them and not be remorseful in doing so.

Weeks turned into months, and my 190 canopy turned into a 170. Suddenly, I had what I thought was a bigger problem than trying to scrounge up money for jump tickets – trying to find a smaller parachute and consequently a smaller container to fit it. Of course I did not need new brake calipers on my car despite the rust that amassed from the periodic salty, coastal South Carolina flooding. The top of the hierarchy of needs was a new rig.
While searching the internet one morning, in an effort to find some sort of deal, I stumbled across the PD Factory Team gear raffle. “Win all of the gear,” it said in brazen letters. The details in the raffle seemed almost too good to be true. The price per ticket was reasonable, and the rewards would be transformative. I bought two tickets. Months slowly drifted by, and I waited anxiously for the day of the drawing.
The day of the drawing was finally here. I hit refresh on my computer every five seconds awaiting the result that would change my skydiving game.
“And the winner of the 2013 PDFT Gear raffle is….”
Not me. I didn’t win.

Ten years later, I am on the PD Factory Team. What a wild ride it has been! And hopefully, will continue to be.
Long story short, buy our tickets, win all the gear, just as I hoped to. Just 65 bucks a ticket, and multiple tickets are even less.

Here are my personal accounts of the gear we are giving away…
Performance Designs
I learned how to swoop on Sabre 2s. Big ones.
Sunpath Products
My brown Sunpath rig will always be the love of my life and the most comfortable for sitting in the harness for an extended period of time.
Cookie helmets
My first piece of skydiving kit was a Cookie G3 when they first came out. I believe it is now retired somewhere in an instructor room in Northern San Diego.
CYPRES
Nuff said.
Alti-2
My second piece of skydiving kit ever. It’s been soaked in salt water, dropped in the sand, survived many tandem students trying to rip it off in freefall and still works to this day.
Vertical Suits
When I first started flying in the tunnel, Vertical had sort of just broken into the tunnel game. I had a suit that a friend gave me and it felt bomb proof. In those days there was some weight to them, and it lasted forever. I still have it in a box somewhere.
Phreshair
They make good looking soft goods, and the owner is also the designer. He has such a keen eye for whatever the client may want.
Again, long story short:- buy a ticket, support the team, and win all the gear.
