To everyone out there going for it and flying your hearts out! Charlewars, a D4W and D2W competition will be held at Airspace Indoor Skydiving in May. Charlewars will be the fourth competition organized by D4W, a non-profit organisation, aiming to raise the level of the sport and the way we present it.

This time the show moves on to Charleroi, just outside Brussels in Belgium, where Airspace Indoor Skydiving will be opening up for business in spring 2014. The dates are as follows:

No changes will be made to the rules before Charlewars, including the dive pool. However, changes may be made regarding the way we judge certain rounds, specifically if we choose to develop a review system for speed rounds. However, these changes will not affect the training that teams need to do leading up to the competition.

D2W
For teams signing up for Dynamic 2-way (D2W), we highly recommend that you participate in the workshop. This will be a test competition and rules will not be developed before the workshop. If you want to take part in a similar process that has been going on with D4W over the last 2 years, then you are welcome to do so. Out of experience we know that significant testing needs to be done before work starts on creating specific rules. For training, 90 second free rounds and speed rounds similar to D4W dive pool but removing 2 last flyers is the most relevant tip we can give so far.
Registration
The competition is open for up to 16 teams in D4W and 8 teams in D2W. Registration fee (800 €) includes all competition time and 45 minutes official training per team.

Workshop
All registered athletes and staff are invited to take part in the workshop. Other key developers of D4W.net will be invited to participate as well. Airspace-sponsored time will be used primarily for developing, testing and filming a D2W dive pool, as well as specific training for judging of speed and free rounds. Participating teams are therefore encouraged to buy training time during the workshop, both to make use of their time and as a way of getting feedback on their flying and training with the judging system.
The journey continues
We want to take the opportunity to thank everyone that has participated in this project. It’s nice to see the progress that has been made over the last year in the way we organize and present competitions. More important though is the way it has brought the community together to work on important parts of our sport and the positive effect it has had on the freefly community when it comes to flying skills. The project has so far been carried out completely on the basis of voluntary work by the athletes and their friends, as well as generous investments to the sport made by very dedicated wind tunnel owners.
