The World Team’s 20th anniversary event, a 2 point, 222-way world record attempt, entitled Fly it Forward has begun! At the dropzone in Eloy, AZ, the skydivers from 28 nations have converged! The excitement, camaraderie and sheer joy of meeting up with fellow team members for this epic world record is palpable.

Training Days

There were two practice days planned March 26-27th. The 27th was stymied by strong winds. Only one jump was made; a practice jump for the base portion of the record skydive. Fortunately the 27th began with calm winds 63 degrees F and a blue sky. Multiple point skydives were made by the base and several sectors. These were all small groups of 20 to 22 jumpers allowing the skydivers to make multiple points or formations during each jump.

This evening all the Captains met to discuss the engineering of the record formation, communication and safety. BJ Worth, the World Team director and all his captains then briefed the 222 skydivers involved in the record in the large team hangar.

As an added treat, an amazing multiple screen presentation board was created by Dimensional Innovations – with stills and video of all world records created by World Team for the last twenty years. The Plan

Fly It Forward officially starts tomorrow, March 28th. The team will begin by making jumps with the entire 42-skydiver base. Each of the six outside sectors will skydive together in 40-60-way formations from two to three aircraft. There will be two days of the smaller formations. On March 30, the goal is to join the groups and perform 100 and 120-way skydives. March 31, if the skydivers are performing as expected, the group will begin the 222-way formation skydives. The expectation is that the 2-point, 222-way record formation will be achieved on April 1st or 2nd.
