FAI records, Largest Formation (World), Wingsuit flying – one confirmed, one pending
42-way wingsuit formation record

#It’s Official!

Just over a year ago, on 17 June 2015, a group of first 33 wingsuiters set a new (and first) World Record Wingsuit formation, no grip, over Skydive Flanders, Moorsele, Belgium.

The day after the record was broken again with a nice 42 way. The FAI has now ratified this World Record as official, congratulations to all participants!

The subsequent 61-way Wingsuit World Record set over 8 months ago at Skydive Perris on 18 October 2015, has not moved beyond ‘initial claim record received’ – the next stage is ‘dossier under review’. Yet USPA ratified the same jump as a National Record two weeks later. Surely there could be some crossover here? Presumably USPA and FAI both use FAI judges to confirm a record, why do it twice? Especially when there is such a backlog…
