Target Fixation with Daniel Darby
This summer I teamed up with a friend over at Mountainside Entertainment to produce something a little different…
I’ve been wanting to do a target punch for a long time, but I haven’t been happy with the usual setup – two poles in the ground and a foam board that shatters when you go through it, leaving tons of pieces for you to go find and do you best to clean up, or worse; leave on the mountain.
This setup remains whole, and is easy to take down and remove while leaving no trace. In the event that the pilot does make contact, each individual component is selected for its ability to fail without disrupting flight, and the pieces fall apart independently, making clean-up much easier and more thorough.
What an immense challenge it is to squeeze the entire length of your body through a target while traveling so fast!

I never could have accomplished this without the help of Ashlee Richman and Lars Leinemann, thank you both so so much for the amount of work you both put into this.
Also, Squirrel, keep making awesome suits like the #freak2 that make stuff like this possible, and Performance Designs your canopies allow me to fully concentrate without having to stress about openings and landings, love my #proxy.
