A new Olympic sport in sight?
Over 300 participants from 23 countries are competing at the 2nd World Indoor Skydiving Championship, October 20 to 22, at the 14-feet diameter SkyVenture Montreal wind tunnel.
‘Indoor skydiving’ was officially recognized by the FAI in 2014, who have run one World Cup and one World Championships since. It has now been renamed ‘bodyflight’, as more explanatory for the public, and is shortlisted to become an Olympic sport, creating a lot of excitement! The IOC is contemplating the introduction of the sport in the next Youth Olympic Games held in Buenos Aires in 2018. This World Championships is a pilot to evaluate the population’s interest toward this sport on a world scale.
