Matt checks out the new 4-way App…

Skydiving 401 App
Top 4way skydiving team Rhythm has recently released their new Rhythm Skydiving 401 app and it’s packed full of everything you could possibly want to know about 4way skydiving!

The in-app videos are ideal for learning blocks and randoms. Once downloaded, you can change the playback speed and easily navigate through the videos, keeping track of who’s who with the handy colour coded helmets. (I’ve just been learning the new block 1 and 13!)
Videos have axes overlaid on top of blocks as an excellent tool for, not only seeing what the moves should look like, but really understanding the pictures and angles
On top of this, the app features some great flash cards. These are set up nicely to help you memorise which formation is which – ideal for beginners trying to learn the dive pool.

Wealth of Information
The Basics section is extremely thorough with huge amounts of information. However, this app is not just for beginners. There are plenty resources for more advanced teams and skydivers including a dive timer that lets you not only time your videos but also keep track of exactly how long each transition takes – and therefore keep a record of how long every block lasts. This is on top of advice and tips on how to get the most out of teams in terms of training plans, budgets and schedules for training days and camps.
The dive generator is flexible and can produce draws in any format you desire. (Click the info button at the top of the app for instructions on how to best use all the functionality as some features aren’t immediately obvious.)
Regular Updates
The App contains exit videos showing how to launch all the randoms and blocks from both the mock up and the plane. The videos are a great training aid with examples of how to fly all the exits at an exceptionally high level. Rhythm are constantly adding new material, such as videos of their own training and competition jumps (10 new training jumps are included per month as part of the subscription); there are also regular updates from the team about upcoming events. The consistent updates give you confidence that the app will always feature all the latest tricks from Rhythm.
Summary
Clearly massive amounts of knowledge, built up over years of training and competing, and a huge amount of time and effort has gone into producing this app. A lot of this information is available for free to get you started but it’ll cost you just under the price of one team jump for a year’s subscription to all this great material. With so many useful resources, this must be the most comprehensive 4way App out there right now.
