The Curv 2.0 is here! The second generation of the super comfortable rig includes lots of new features on the Curv 2.0. If you aren’t at the PIA symposium, here are several photos outlining the latest features on one of the most well made rigs on the market.
Rigging Innovations has built over 400 rigs of the original Curv and asked customers for their input. The result: the Curv 2.0, featuring improvements from the manufacturer as well as the user. The new features include magnetic riser covers, redesigned bio-yoke, low profile reserve top flap, secondary main riser covers and more, as you can see from the photos.
An innovative design feature from Rigging Innovations is a long curved metal loop incorporated in the closure mechanism. This means the flaps do not overlap to close the rig, giving a cleaner, lower profile to the rig. This has been used successfully for thousands of jumps in the main closure, so is now incorporated in the reserve flap.
The hook knife pocket is incorporated on the main lift web, an easier place to reach than on the leg strap, and not so clumsy as on the chest strap, also less likely to lose the knife. The lazy (stowless) bag, extra comfort padding, hook knife pocket, stainless steel hardware, etc are all included in the base price of the rig. Owner Sandy Reid argues that the Curv 2.0 is the most technologically advanced rig on the market.
At the PIA symposium, Rigging Innovations was demonstrating a rig using magnets to keep the cutaway and reserve handles in place. (This is not currently offered but a cool idea.)
Production on the Curv 2.0 will start on June 1st 2015, including a similarly updated CPX, the accuracy version of the Curv.
