Team Fly4Life experimented with skydiving blindfolded in an effort to see how much of their flying relied on visual information. Here’s what that experience taught them.
In this highly controlled experiment, Team Fly4Life challenged themselves to skydive blindfolded to explore how much body awareness, sensory input, and communication matter when sight is removed. This was not a stunt, it was a carefully designed training experience for the team.
Important note: This type of jump is not recommended for anyone. The Fly4Life team has thousands of jumps, a long history of working together, and took extensive safety precautions to plan and debrief the jump before attempting it. Every detail from exit to breakoff was briefed with contingencies in place to ensure the safety of all.
What they learned highlights just how much of flying is feeling and how critical planning, awareness, and team connection are when one of the most relied-upon senses is taken away.
