Flamingo Fest at Skydive City

Gabby Klotas shares a firsthand look at Flamingo Fest: where full days of flying, weather holds, and a nonstop ground scene came together to create something bigger than just another boogie

Skydive City just keeps getting better. Every year, jumpers from all over flock to Skydive City’s FlamingoFest Boogie and it’s not hard to see why. What starts as a dropzone transforms into a full celebration of skydiving culture, where both the sky and the ground are busy and alive. This year felt like the best one yet. From sunrise loads to sunset jumps, the energy was nonstop.

Organizers and Aircraft Keep It Moving

Skydive City brought out world-class organizers including Jake Carlton, Alethia Austin, Tex, Kevin Arcomana, Norman Kent, and many others who truly brought the magic to the skies. There were options across disciplines, for both seasoned jumpers and those looking to level up.

With five aircraft, the sound of turbines blended with laughter, music, and constant movement.

Keeping the Energy Through Weather Holds

The DZ maintained a high level of energy and engagement throughout the event, even during weather holds. Low cloud layers limited full-altitude operations at times, but hop-and-pop loads kept everyone active. An inflatable flamingo accuracy competition in the pond brought plenty of laughs and friendly competition.

Participants also had the opportunity to reset with yoga sessions led by Alethia Austin, adding a welcome balance of movement and recovery during breaks in the jumping schedule.

Together, these elements kept the atmosphere positive and engaged with options for everyone.

More Than Skydiving

Flamingo Fest isn’t just about what happens in the sky. On the ground, it’s part festival, part reunion.

Vendors like UPT and PD lined the courtyard with the latest gear, demo canopies, tunnel time raffles, and services for the skydiving community. Food trucks kept everyone fueled, and music carried into the night.

As the sun dipped over Zephyrhills, the day’s jumps turned into evening energy with nightly themed parties with DJs, activities like dodgeball, and stories shared over drinks, bonfires, and the kind of camaraderie that only skydivers really understand.
