On July 19, 2025, we joined dozens of skydivers from across the country at Skydive Spaceland Houston for a unique and meaningful purpose.
Fresh Heir Adventures returned to Houston for the second year with the ever-growing Fresh Heir Boogie, a celebration of cultural identity and representation in the skydiving community. This year’s event drew tremendous attention, featuring world-renowned load organizers Brandon Johnson and Jazmyne Kahler, along with Matt Smith, Brian Lawson, and James Kunze, representing multiple disciplines. It marked the group’s 5th annual Boogie and the largest turnout yet, with attendance doubling from the year prior.
The Roots of Fresh Heir
Founded in 2021 by a handful of skydivers—both new and highly experienced—Fresh Heir Adventures began as a space for Black athletes to connect and find camaraderie in the sport. In just a few years, that vision has grown into a thriving community with more than 200 members worldwide.
Why Fresh Heir? The name reflects who we are: a community of Black adventurers bringing a breath of fresh air to skydiving and other extreme sports. We represent new energy and a lasting legacy. Our mission is to inspire this generation to live without boundaries, expand representation in underrepresented spaces, and claim our place as heirs to the future of these sports.

Core Values
At the heart of Fresh Heir are six guiding values: safety, community, representation, authenticity, mentorship, and progression. Above all, community leads the way. We welcome skydivers of every background, experience level, and discipline to join us.
New Faces, Shared Inspiration
One of the newest members, Brandon Taylor, began his AFF program at Spaceland the very weekend of the Boogie. Working toward his A-license, he described how moving it was “to see people that look like him” in a setting where that is rarely the case. For him, the experience was nothing short of mesmerizing, and he shared how deeply encouraged he felt to connect with others who share cultural similarities and experiences.
We exist to ensure those moments are no longer rare, but the norm.

Voices from the Sky
For first-time attendee and seven-time world record holder Jazmyne Kahler, the Boogie was a highlight of her year. Upon being introduced to Fresh Heir, she eagerly accepted the invitation to serve as a load organizer, bringing her expertise and passion to the event.
“It’s more than just participating in skydiving events. It’s about belonging to a community that values diversity, mentorship, and personal growth,” Kahler says. “It’s a space where I can connect with and learn from others while contributing to a culture of inclusivity in a sport that often lacks representation. The connections I’ve made have deepened my appreciation for the power of community and shared experiences.”
Her reflections echo the feelings of many participants. Rising talent Luke Sundberg from Denver, Colorado, shared:
“The Fresh Heir Boogie was honestly one of the most meaningful events I’ve been a part of in my skydiving career. It wasn’t just about representation; it was about the incredible level of talent that showed up to support the event. Some of the best LO’s in the world came out, and it was a true honor to be able to fly with them.”

Turning the Sky Black
The vision is simple: “Let’s turn the sky Black.”
We are committed to filling the skies with Black excellence by building a visible, vibrant, and safe community where Black adventurers thrive. Together, we uplift, mentor, and inspire through safety, skill, and culture, supporting each other’s growth and celebrating our heritage.
Fresh Heir represents more than a community; it’s a movement. A promise to ensure that the next generation inherits a space where our presence in adventure is not a surprise, but an expectation.
